Cross-sectional survey on Mycobacterium avium Subsp. paratuberculosis in Dromedary Camels: Seroprevalence and risk factors

Summary: This study estimated the prevalence of MAP infection among camels in the Nile Delta region of Egypt. The seroprevalence of MAP infection was 7.5% among examined camels. Elder camels with signs of diarrhea, having communal water source, and grazing in the same pasture were found to be at higher risk of MAP infection.

Molecular epidemiological survey, genetic characterization and phylogenetic analysis of Anaplasma ovis infecting sheep in Northern Egypt

Summary: This study investigated the molecular prevalence and associated risk factors of A. ovis in sheep from Egypt. The overall molecular prevalence rate of A. ovis was found to be 15.5%, with the highest rate observed in Kafr ElSheikh governorate. Statistical analysis revealed that A. ovis infection was significantly associated with sheep gender and tick infestation.

Summary: This study evaluated the larvicidal and adulticidal activity of fennel and green tea oils and their nanostructured lipid carriers against Culex pipiens mosquitoes. The nanoformulations showed significant mortality rates and reductions in larval and adult densities. The encapsulated fennel oil demonstrated promising activity as a larvicide and adulticide.

Mg-LDH Nanoclays Intercalated Fennel and Green Tea Active Ingredient: Field and Laboratory Evaluation of Insecticidal Activities against Culex pipiens and Their Non-Target Organisms

Summary: This study evaluated the larvicidal and adulticidal activity of fennel and green tea oils, as well as their LDHs nanohybrid, against Culex pipiens mosquitoes. The results showed that these oils had good insecticidal effects on both larvae and adults, and they had a persistent effect in both laboratory and field conditions. The study also found that LDHs nanohybrid had minimal impact on non-target organisms.

Prevalence and animal level risk factors associated with Trypanosoma evansi infection in dromedary camels

Summary: Surra is a parasitic disease caused by Trypanosoma evansi (T. evansi) and transmitted by biting flies. A study in three Egyptian governorates found a high prevalence of T. evansi infection in camels, with older camels, spring season, females, and poor conditioned camels being more susceptible. The card agglutination test for T. evansi showed higher sensitivity than the thin blood smear method and both tests had perfect specificity. The findings suggest that the card agglutination test is a useful tool for the routine control of trypanosomiasis in camels.

A survey of bluetongue infection in one-humped camels (Camelus Dromedarius); seroprevalence and risk factors analysis

Summary: The study evaluated the sero-prevalence of Bluetongue virus (BTV) in camels in Egypt's southern and northern regions and identified risk factors for infection. The findings showed a high prevalence of BTV in camels, particularly in Aswan. Female camels and those in the summer season had a higher likelihood of infection. Exposure to insect vectors also increased the probability of BTV infection.

Seroprevalence and associated risk factors for vector-borne pathogens in dogs from Egypt
