Influence of Fatty Acid Composition on the Tribological Performance of Methyl Esters Under Boundary Lubrication Regime

G. Rajasozhaperumal et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of fatty acid composition on the physicochemical, thermal, and tribological characteristics of three different methyl esters, and reveals that Jatropha methyl ester outperforms Cottonseed and Karanja methyl esters in terms of frictional force and wear scar diameter reduction.

Partial Hydrogenation of Jatropha Oil Biodiesel Catalyzed by Nickel/Bentonite Catalyst

Tong Zhu et al.

Summary: This study aims to enhance the oxidative stability of first generation biodiesel through partial hydrogenation with a nickel/bentonite catalyst. Through optimization of reaction parameters, high conversion rates of C18:2 were achieved, leading to improved stability and quality of the biodiesel. The catalyst showed good recyclability without significant loss of catalytic activity, demonstrating its effectiveness in providing enhanced oxidative stability for biodiesel.
