Generalized network modelling of two-phase flow in a water-wet and mixed-wet reservoir sandstone: Uncertainty and validation with experimental data

Ali Q. Raeini et al.

Summary: In this study, a generalized pore network model and image-based experiments were used to understand the parameters controlling upscaled flow properties. The results showed that contact angle, initial saturation, image quality, and image processing algorithm were the most important parameters for predicting flow properties under mixed-wet and water-wet conditions.

Characterization of Water Transport in Porous Building Materials Based on an Analytical Spontaneous Imbibition Model

Ming-Liang Qu et al.

Summary: Spontaneous imbibition plays a crucial role in the durability of construction materials and building design. This study provides a comprehensive understanding of the process by determining capillary pressure, permeability, and initial water saturation. The results demonstrate a method to estimate water relative permeability and predict saturation profile and sorptivity for different materials and fluid properties.

Pore-scale imaging of displacement patterns in an altered-wettability carbonate

Qingyang Lin et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates how pore-scale displacement affects macroscopic properties in an altered-wettability microporous carbonate using high-resolution X-ray imaging and a steady-state flow experiment. Different displacement patterns of oil and brine in the pore spaces were observed, leading to variations in relative permeability and residual oil saturation. These differences were primarily determined by the wettability of the rock.
