Influence mechanism of CaO on gasification characteristics and kinetic behaviors of carbon-CO2 reaction

Chenchen Lan et al.

Summary: The positive catalytic effect of CaO on the gasification reaction of carbon and CO2 was investigated. It was found that CaO can decrease the start temperature, end temperature, and the temperature with the maximum reaction rate of carbon-CO2 gasification. The addition of CaO also reduces the activation energy of the reaction, making it easier to occur. Furthermore, CaO modifies the structure and electrical properties of the carbon matrix, leading to increased reaction activity.

The isothermal kinetics of zinc ferrite reduction with carbon monoxide

Gongliang Wang et al.

Summary: The reduction kinetics of zinc ferrite in CO atmosphere follows a step-wise mechanism influenced by reaction rate and diffusion, with higher CO concentrations accelerating the reduction process. The reduction is controlled by the rate of the first or second order in different CO conditions, with diffusion being the rate-determining step in the second stage.

Thermodynamic analysis and process optimization of zinc and lead recovery from copper smelting slag with chlorination roasting

Bei-kai Zhang et al.

Summary: An efficient chlorination roasting process was proposed for recovering zinc and lead from copper smelting slag, showing promising results in both thermodynamic models and experiments. The interactive effects of process variables were assessed using the Box-Behnken design, leading to optimal metal recovery efficiencies. Residual Zn- and Pb-containing phases in the roasting slags were identified as ZnFe2O4, Zn(2)SiO(4), and PbS.

Comprehensive review on metallurgical recycling and cleaning of copper slag

Hongyu Tian et al.

Summary: Copper slag, a potentially harmful waste generated during copper smelting, contains valuable metals like Cu, Fe, Zn, Co, and Ni as well as hazardous elements such as Pb and As. It is important to subject copper slag to further metallurgical recycling and cleaning for economic and environmental benefits. Improved processes focusing on high recycling efficiency, low energy consumption, and low secondary environmental pollution are needed for sustainable waste utilization of copper slag.

Isothermal and non-isothermal reduction kinetics of iron ore oxygen carrier by CO: Modelistic and model-free approaches

Nesibe Dilmac

Summary: The study investigated the reduction kinetics of an iron ore oxygen carrier from Mentes? (Turkey) using thermogravimetry, revealing the gas-solid reaction kinetics in three stages. The experimental data in the second and third stages were best represented by the two-dimensional contradiction (R2) and unimolecular decay (F1) models.

Comprehensive Study on the Mechanism of Sulfating Roasting of Zinc Plant Residue with Iron Sulfates

Pavel Grudinsky et al.

Summary: The study comprehensively investigated the composition of Zinc plant residue (ZPR) and the obtained products using various methods, elucidated the mechanism of sulfating roasting, and estimated the rate-controlling step of zinc and copper sulfation process. The results showed that the optimal condition for recovery of 99% Zn and 80.3% Cu is sulfating roasting at 600 degrees C for 180 min with the Fe-2(SO4)(3)center dot 9H(2)O addition, followed by water leaching, while Fe, Pb, Ag, In, Ga retained almost fully in the residue.
