Rooibos (Aspalathus linearis) and its Constituent Quercetin Can Suppress Ovarian Cell Functions and Their Response to FSH

Alexander V. Sirotkin et al.

Summary: Rooibos has a direct influence on female reproduction, affecting ovarian cells' response to FSH. It is unclear if this influence is due to the presence of quercetin. This study found that both rooibos and quercetin affect ovarian functions, such as proliferation, apoptosis, and hormone release, and can mitigate the effects of FSH. The potential anti-reproductive effects of rooibos and quercetin should be considered in nutrition.
