Estrous activity and pregnancy outcomes in Holstein heifers subjected to a progesterone based 5-d CO-Synch protocol with or without administration of initial GnRH

M. Gobikrushanth et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the difference in estrous activity and its impact on pregnancy outcomes in heifers subjected to a 5-day CO-Synch plus PRID protocol with or without an initial GnRH treatment. The results showed that heifers treated with GnRH had a higher estrus rate following PRID removal, a shorter interval from PRID removal to the onset of estrus, and tended to have a higher pregnancy per artificial insemination (P/AI) rate at 30 days post-insemination.

Comparison of two intravaginal progesterone-releasing devices in shortened-timed artificial insemination protocols in beef cattle

E. M. Zwiefelhofer et al.

Summary: Commercially available intravaginal progesterone devices can affect estrus response and pregnancy per AI outcomes in beef cattle subjected to timed-AI protocols. The study found that using a PRID device increased estrus rate and P/AI compared to using a CIDR device.
