Efficient Multicomponent Synthesis of Spirooxindole Derivatives Catalyzed by Copper Triflate

Chunlei Wu et al.

Summary: This study presents a simple and efficient method for the synthesis of spirooxindole derivatives. The method involves a three-component reaction of isatin, 5-aminopyrazole, and 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds (or beta-oxo-benzenepropanenitrile), catalyzed by copper triflate in ethanol. The advantages of this method are high efficiency, mild reaction conditions, recoverable catalyst, and environmentally friendly conditions.

Facile construction of spiroindoline derivatives as potential anti-viral agent via three-component reaction in aqueous with β-cyclodextrin-SO3H as an efficient catalyst

Fangzhou Xu et al.

Summary: A convenient and efficient strategy for constructing spiro indoline derivatives in water using beta-cyclodextrin-SO3H was developed. The method offers several advantages, including short reaction time, broad range of substituents, simplicity of use, high product yields, recyclable catalysts, and the use of safe and inexpensive solvents. Preliminary study showed that some of the spiroindoline derivatives exhibited anti-Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV) activity, suggesting their potential use in plant protection.
