Staple Line Reinforcement During Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy: Systematic Review and Network Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

Alberto Aiolfi et al.

Summary: Based on a network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials, suture oversewing (SR) technique was found to be associated with a reduced risk of bleeding, leak, and overall complications compared to no reinforcement (NR) during laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG). However, no significant differences were found between SR and glue reinforcement (GR), bioabsorbable staple line reinforcement (Gore (R) Seamguard (R)) (GoR), and clips reinforcement (CR). The operative time was longer for SR, GR, and GoR compared to NR.
