Early Impact of VA MISSION Act Implementation on Primary Care Appointment Wait Time

Diana J. Govier et al.

Summary: After the early implementation of CCNs under the VA MISSION Act, community primary care wait times increased significantly, regardless of the implementation of CCNs or the status of rural/urban or PC HPSA appointments. This suggests that the demand for community care may have overwhelmed VA resources, resulting in limited impact of CCNs.

Appointment wait time data for primary & specialty care in veterans health administration facilities vs. community medical centers

Yevgeniy Feyman et al.

Summary: This article summarizes more than 38 million appointment wait times data of U.S. military veterans seeking medical care since January 2014, including both within VHA facilities and community medical centers, and stratified by primary/specialty care type. These data represent the largest, national, and most representative measures of timely access to care for patients of both VHA and community providers. Researchers can utilize these datasets to analyze longitudinal and cross-sectional variations in appointment wait times and conduct research on policies and interventions to enhance access to care.

The Impact of Community Care Referral on Time to Surgery for Veterans With Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Jessica I. Billig et al.

Summary: This study compared the wait times for surgery for Veterans with carpal tunnel syndrome who received care solely within the VA and those who received a combination of VA care and community care.
