The experience and perspective of people with spinal cord injury about well-being interventions: a systematic review of qualitative studies

Bronwyn Simpson et al.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the experiences and perspectives of people with spinal cord injuries (SCI) regarding interventions that target their well-being. The results showed that various interventions influenced multiple determinants of well-being, leading to improvements in subjective and psychological well-being among the participants with SCI. However, the definition of well-being was not always clear in the studies, and the participants reported a lack of priority and opportunities for engaging in well-being interventions within the current rehabilitation system.

Early Predictors of Neurological Outcomes After Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury A Systematic Review and Proposal of a Conceptual Framework

Pascal Mputu Mputu et al.

Summary: The study aims to identify and classify the early predictors of neurological outcomes after traumatic spinal cord injury. Initial severity of injury, age, and surgical timing are strong predictors of outcomes, while factors like vertebral and associated injuries show inconsistency. Cerebrospinal fluid inflammatory biomarkers are emerging factors significantly associated with outcomes.

Prevalence of sleep-disordered breathing in people with tetraplegia-a systematic review and meta-analysis

Marnie Graco et al.

Summary: The study revealed a high prevalence of sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) in people with tetraplegia, with rates increasing with age. Factors such as gender, type of spinal cord injury, body mass index, etc., did not show significant differences in SDB prevalence. Routine screening and treatment should be considered due to the high prevalence of SDB in this population.

Exploring well-being services from the perspective of people with SCI: A scoping review of qualitative research

Bronwyn Simpson et al.

Summary: The study identified key values that people with SCI place on rehabilitation services, such as dignity in treatment, positive expectations, increased autonomy, and peer support. Although improvements in well-being were reported post-SCI, individuals with SCI reported limited opportunities to engage in such services. This highlights the importance of addressing gaps in service provision to improve overall well-being for individuals with SCI.
