Development and field deployment of a mid-infrared CO and CO2 dual-gas sensor system for early fire detection and location

Yafei Li et al.

Summary: In this study, a mid-infrared carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2) dual-gas sensor system was developed for early fire detection and location. The performance of the sensor system was evaluated through experiments, and a method of early fire detection using the concentration ratio between CO and CO2 as the key alarm parameter was proposed. Additionally, a mobile early fire location method was presented based on gas turbulent diffusion combined with particle swarm optimization.

Study on Photoacoustic Spectroscopy Detection of CO in Gas Insulation Equipment

Zhenwei Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, the quantitative gas detection of CO is carried out based on photoacoustic spectroscopy technology. By optimizing the nonresonant photoacoustic cell and building a detection platform, the study successfully detects the concentration of CO using photoacoustic spectroscopy. The lower detection limits of CO with different background gases are predicted and verified experimentally, demonstrating the accuracy of the predictions. This study provides guidance for the engineering application of CO photoacoustic spectroscopy detection in SF6 equipment.

Simultaneous CH4/CO Measurement at Atmospheric Pressure Using a Single 2.3 m Laser and a Dual-Gas Cross-Interference Cancellation Algorithm

Di Yu et al.

Summary: A new dual-gas sensor system utilizing a single laser has been developed to overcome the complexity and cost issues. By introducing a novel two-step second harmonic algorithm based on polynomial fitting, the cross-interference in the single-laser-based dual-gas sensor has been effectively suppressed. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed sensor system shows excellent performance in detecting methane and carbon monoxide concentrations.

Experimental study to assess the explosion hazard of CH4/coal dust mixtures induced by high-temperature source surface

Lei Zhang et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the risk of gas/coal dust explosion induced by coal spontaneous combustion in goaf, finding that explosion parameters are closely related to the high-temperature source temperature and volatile content. The involvement of coal dust lowers the explosion limit for CH4/air.

LED-Based Photoacoustic NO2 Sensor with a Sub-ppb Detection Limit

Juho Karhu et al.

Summary: In this study, a high-sensitivity light-emitting diode (LED)-based photoacoustic NO2 sensor was demonstrated, achieving a sub-ppb detection limit and excellent stability through cantilever-enhanced photoacoustic detection and two-channel relative measurement. The results show great potential for the development of cost-effective and sensitive detectors for a variety of other trace gases, as LEDs are available at a wide selection of emission wavelengths.
