A redox reaction-induced ratiometric fluorescence platform for the specific detection of ascorbic acid based on Ag2S quantum dots and multifunctional CoOOH nanoflakes

Haoyu Chen et al.

Summary: A ratiometric fluorescent nanoplatform based on Ag2S quantum dots and multifunctional hydroxyl cobalt oxide nanoflakes was constructed for the detection of ascorbic acid (AA). The platform effectively quenches the NIR fluorescence emission of Ag2S QDs at 680 nm through the inner filter effect, and catalyzes the oxidation of o-Phenylenediamine (OPD) into 2,3-diaminophenazine (DAP) with an emission peak at 575 nm. The addition of AA leads to the decline in the OXD-like activity of CoOOH NFs, resulting in the recovery of red fluorescence from the released Ag2S QDs. The ratiometric fluorescence sensor enables the quantification of AA in real samples with a linear range of 0.2 μM-20 mM and a detection limit of 0.014 μM.

Detection and Bioimaging of Glutathione in Cells via a Turn-On Near-Infrared Fluorescent Nanoprobe Composed of Ag2S Quantum Dots and CoOOH Nanosheets

Haoyu Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, near-infrared emitting Ag2S quantum dots were synthesized and used as sensitive fluorescent nanoprobes in sensing and bioimaging of glutathione (GSH) combined with CoOOH nanosheets. The fluorescence of Ag2S quantum dots was quenched when attached to the surface of CoOOH nanosheets through electrostatic interactions. However, the addition of GSH resulted in the recovery of the fluorescence due to the reduction of CoOOH by GSH. The nanoprobe composed of Ag2S quantum dots and CoOOH nanosheets showed promise in bioimaging and could distinguish normal and cancer cells and detect the content of GSH.

Microbial synthesis of Cadmium selenide quantum dots (CdSe QDs), influencing factors and applications

Md Mahamud Hasan Tusher

Summary: CdSe quantum dots (QDs) are toxic semiconductor nanocrystals with unique optical and electrical properties. The toxicity of CdSe QDs is determined by the surface characteristics and size of the particles. The core/shell configuration is a popular technique to modify the activity of quantum dots. Biosynthesis of CdSe QDs by microorganisms is an environmentally friendly and cost-effective green technology. Factors such as pH, temperature, synthesizing route, and substrate concentration affect the final product's size and form. CdSe QDs have potential applications in various fields.
