Rapid and ultrasensitive solution-based SERS detection of drug additives in aquaculture by using polystyrene sulfonate modified gold nanobipyramids

Muhammad Usman Amin et al.

Summary: In recent years, surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) has been widely used for rapid detection of trace-level molecular targets. In this study, a simple and effective solution-based SERS protocol was developed to improve the detection of cationic dye molecules in aquaculture. The results showed that the ionic strength of the solution has an important impact on the colloidal stability and SERS activity, and the proposed method demonstrated sensitivity at low concentrations of aggregating agents.

Summary: This study introduces a general method to fabricate hydrophobic paper-based SERS substrates and optimizes their performance by controlling factors such as the ratio of nanoparticles and the number of printing layers. The selected substrates showed good SERS performance for various analytes, with specific analysis conducted on the pesticide thiram. The one-step fabrication method is suggested to enhance the SERS performance of the paper substrates through nanoscale features of the hydrophobic coating.

Spiky yolk-shell AuAg bimetallic nanorods with uniform interior gap for the SERS detection of thiram residues in fruit juice

Jian Zhu et al.

Summary: Spiky yolk-shell AuAg bimetallic nanorods were prepared by galvanic replacement reaction, allowing for SERS detection of thiram. The SERS activity of the nanorods is influenced by the thickness of the silver layer and volume of HAuCl4, with a detection limit of 97 nM for thiram. This makes them promising for pesticide detection applications.
