Biophysical and modeling-based approach for the identification of inhibitors against DOHH from Leishmania donovani

Madhusudhanarao Katiki et al.

Summary: This study aims to identify inhibitors against DOHH from Leishmania donovani for the treatment of Leishmaniasis. The LdDOHH protein was produced and characterized. Virtual screening identified folic acid, scutellarin, and homoarbutin as potential inhibitors, which were found to bind in the active site of LdDOHH and stabilize the structure.

A comprehensive in vitro exploration into the interaction mechanism of coumarin derivatives with bovine hemoglobin: Spectroscopic and computational methods

Sona Lyndem et al.

Summary: This study investigated the molecular recognition of bovine hemoglobin with 7-hydroxycou-marin and 4-methyl-7-hydroxycoumarin. The results showed that the binding of these fluorescent compounds to hemoglobin is reversible and occurs through a static quenching mechanism. Hydrophobic forces and hydrogen bonding play important roles in the binding process.

Inhibiting Leishmania donovani Sterol Methyltransferase to Identify Lead Compounds Using Molecular Modelling

Patrick O. Sakyi et al.

Summary: Leishmaniasis is a global public health concern and there is a need to find new leads due to resistance and lack of efficacy of current drugs. In this study, a combination of In silico and in vitro approaches was used to identify potential synthetic small-molecule inhibitors targeting LdSMT. The study identified nine compounds as potential hit molecules, which could be optimized to develop potent antileishmanial therapeutic agents.

Deciphering the interactions of phytochemicals with ovalbumin, the major food allergen from egg white: spectroscopic and computational studies

Sharat Sarmah et al.

Summary: This study investigated the interaction between ovalbumin and four bioactive phytochemicals. The results showed that a static quenching mechanism occurred between flavonoids and ovalbumin, with hydrophobic forces playing a major role in the stability of the complexes. The binding of flavonoids to ovalbumin resulted in structural changes and may have an impact on the immunoglobulin E response pathway.
