Enhanced thermal performance of phase change materials supported by hierarchical porous carbon modified with polydopamine/nano-Ag for thermal energy storage

Shikun Xiao et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a new method to address the low thermal conductivity issue of hierarchical porous carbon-based (HPC) composite phase change materials. By modifying HPC with polydopamine (PDA) and silver nanoparticles, and then incorporating polyethylene glycol (PEG), a shape-stabilized phase change composite material (SSPCM) is formed. The results show that the SSPCM has good chemical compatibility, significantly improved thermal conductivity, and enhanced photo-thermal conversion capability. This study has important implications for photo-thermal conversion and thermal energy storage and transformation.
