Asphalt Pavement Health Prediction Based on Improved Transformer Network

Chengjia Han et al.

Summary: In this study, an improved Transformer network called Transformer with forward and reversed time series (Transformer FRTS) was proposed to predict asphalt pavement health. It uses a new data form, random difference time series, to reduce time dependency and obtains data association from forward and reverse time series. Additionally, a post-processing decision criterion is applied to improve the accuracy and reliability of prediction. Numerical experiments using detection data from RIOHTrack show that the proposed network performs well in asphalt pavement health prediction.

Cross-scale study of the evolution of interparticle contact behavior using smart aggregate

Ning Wang et al.

Summary: This study utilized wireless embedded sensors-Smart aggregate (SA) to investigate the performance of cement stabilized macadams (CSM) through compaction and splitting tests. A new evolution indicator Sv was proposed to describe the generation and propagation of damage within the material. In addition, the discrete element method was used to model spherical and mixed particle assemblies and study the variation of microscopic contact parameters between the SA and surrounding granular medium. The results showed that SA sensor is effective in monitoring inter-particle force and rotation changes within the mixture, and Sv can accurately characterize the evolution of inter-particle contact parameters.

Study on dynamic responses of particle in aggregate mixture during the laboratory compaction utilizing Smart Aggregate

Jiange Li et al.

Summary: This study investigated the dynamic responses of particles in aggregate mixtures during compaction, using various compaction methods in the laboratory. Results showed that the dynamic responses of the Smart Aggregate were significantly related to the loading mode of compaction efforts. Factors such as lubrication effect, particle size, and aggregates packing had significant influences on the movement of particles in the mixture.
