A dual-resolution unitary ESPRIT method for DOA estimation based on sparse co-prime MIMO radar

Shuang Qiu et al.

Summary: In this article, a novel structure of sparse co-prime MIMO radar is proposed, and a dual-resolution 2-D unitary ESPRIT method is derived for DOA estimation. The proposed approach improves DOA estimation accuracy by deploying multiple separated receive co-prime planar subarrays and addresses the impact of unknown phase offsets. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms unitary ESPRIT methods employing conventional co-prime MIMO radar and MIMO radar with rectangular arrays in 2-D DOA estimation accuracy.

Efficient computation of ML DOA estimates under unknown nonuniform sensor noise powers

J. Selva

Summary: This paper presents an efficient method for computing Maximum Likelihood (ML) direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimates in scenarios with unknown and nonuniform sensor noise powers. The method combines the Alternating Projection (AP) algorithm and Newton iterations to reduce computational burden significantly. The closed-form formulas for the gradient and Hessian of the ML cost functions enable efficient computation with only a few arithmetic operations, resulting in a total computational burden of just a few mega-flops in typical cases.

Generalized l2 - lp minimization based DOA estimation for sources with known waveforms in impulsive noise

Yang-Yang Dong et al.

Summary: The study investigates the problem of Direction of Arrival (DOA) estimation for sources with known waveforms in the presence of impulsive noise. A method based on generalized l(2) - l(p) minimization is developed to decompose impulsive noise into Gaussian and sparse parts, leading to better performance in Gaussian mixture model (GMM) and generalized Gaussian distribution (GGD) noise. The proposed method shows comparable results for symmetric a stable (S alpha S) noise.

Iteratively reweighted lp norm minimization for DOD and DOA estimation in bistatic MIMO radar under impulsive noise

Wen-Gen Tang et al.

Summary: An iterative-reweighting-based algorithm is proposed in this paper to improve the performance of DOD and DOA estimation in bistatic MIMO radar under impulsive noise. The optimization problem is cast to an lp norm minimization problem and solved iteratively by minimizing the objective function based on each variable. Additionally, an off-grid algorithm is developed to obtain a near-optimal initial guess.

Low rank matrix recovery with impulsive noise

Huiyuan Guo et al.

Summary: In this paper, we investigate low rank matrix recovery with impulsive noise, comparing the difference between the nuclear norm and Frobenius norm model. We present a stable recovery result based on the matrix restricted isometry property and find that the truncated difference of nuclear norm and Frobenius norm model can also stably recover low rank matrices with impulsive noise.
