Adsorption mechanisms and regeneration heat analysis of a solid amine sorbent during CO2 capture in wet flue gas

Chenhuan Xu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the adsorption mechanisms and regeneration heats of CO2 and H2O in wet flue gas. It was found that CO2 is mainly chemisorbed, while H2O is mainly physically adsorbed. The desorption of co-adsorbed H2O contributes the most to the regeneration heat. Energy-saving strategies and improving the CO2 working capacity and reducing the sorbent's affinity to H2O were also suggested.

Gas-Particle Flows in a Two-Stage Integrated Bubbling-Transport Fluidized Bed for CO2 Capture

Xuebing Bao et al.

Summary: This paper studied the gas-particle flow behaviors in an integrated bubbling-transport fluidized bed reactor for CO2 capture with solid sorbents. The results showed that the particle circulation rate and gas entrainment rate increased with the total static bed height, fluidization velocity, and central gas velocity. Particle circulation rate was most sensitive to fluidization velocity, while gas entrainment rate was most sensitive to total static bed height. Fine sorbents are recommended for CO2 capture using this reactor.

Sound-Assisted Fluidization for Temperature Swing Adsorption and Calcium Looping: A Review

Federica Raganati et al.

Summary: Fine/ultra-fine cohesive powders are utilized in various industrial and chemical sectors, such as Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and thermochemical energy storage in concentrated solar power plants. Developing technologies to handle/process large amounts of these materials is crucial. The sound-assisted fluidized bed reactor (SAFB) in Naples is a valuable tool for studying the behavior of cohesive powders in low and high temperature chemical processes.

Effects of Amine Structures on Oxidative Degradation of Amine-Functionalized Adsorbents for CO2 Capture

Quyen T. Vu et al.

Summary: Different amines were evaluated for their effects on the stability of CO2 adsorbents in dry and wet oxygen environments. Amines with high molecular weight and long chain alkyl linkers demonstrated higher resistance to oxygen. Additionally, the presence of steam was found to affect the oxidative degradation of amine-based CO2 sorbents depending on the amine structure.

Adsorption of Carbon Dioxide for Post-combustion Capture: A Review

Federica Raganati et al.

Summary: Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is crucial for meeting global carbon dioxide reduction goals, with adsorption-based CO2 post-combustion capture offering significant energy savings. In addition to developing advanced adsorbent materials, factors such as gas-solid contacting systems and regeneration strategies play a key role in the competitiveness and cost of CO2 capture based on adsorption.
