Experimental study of divalent metal ion effects on ammonia escape and carbon dioxide desorption in regeneration process of ammonia decarbonization

Zening Lv et al.

Summary: In this study, the CO2 desorption features from ammonia rich solution were analyzed with the addition of metal ions to reduce ammonia emission. Results showed that increasing temperature greatly increased the rates of CO2 desorption and ammonia escape. Divalent metal ions, such as Ni, Cu, and Zn, were found to promote the CO2 desorption process and inhibit ammonia escape, with Ni(II) showing the strongest effect due to greater complexation with free ammonia.

Pyrolysis reaction mechanism of typical Chinese agriculture and forest waste pellets at high heating rates based on the photo-thermal TGA

Gongxiang Song et al.

Summary: A concentrated Photo-thermal TGA reactor (Pt-TGA) was used to investigate the gas generation characteristics and kinetics mechanism of biomass pyrolysis at fast heating rates. The study revealed the production of non-condensable gases and the increase in H-2 yield during pyrolysis, and the influence of heat and mass transfer on the reactions. Kinetic analysis indicated that the pyrolysis of biomass particles was controlled by a three-dimensional diffusion model.

Self-template mechanism of selective silicon dissolution for the construction of functional rice husk biochar

Shizhang Wang et al.

Summary: The global greenhouse effect is a serious issue, and many countries have reached a consensus on carbon neutrality. The high-value utilization of agricultural waste is of great significance for reducing carbon emissions, and the use of agricultural waste to produce biochar products has promising applications. This study focuses on preparing high-performance rice husk-derived biochar using different methods, and obtains biochar with varying surface areas and pore structures. This provides a theoretical basis and new ideas for the construction of functional rice husk-derived biochar.

Carbon dioxide capture using liquid absorption methods: a review

Friday O. Ochedi et al.

Summary: Anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases lead to global warming, ocean acidification, polar ice melting, sea level rise, droughts, and hurricanes, threatening human health and the global economy. To combat this, cost-effective technologies for CO(2) capture are necessary. Current research focuses on developing more economical, effective, green, and sustainable technologies for CO(2) capture. Various methods based on solutions, solvents, and processes have been explored to enhance CO(2) absorption performance, with a particular interest in incorporating membrane and microencapsulation technologies to improve absorption selectivity.

Summary: Environmental pollution is a serious issue, particularly due to fossil fuel pollution increasing atmospheric CO2 levels. The use of carbon capture and storage technologies, as well as adsorption techniques with carbon materials, show promise for addressing this issue. Factors such as micropore volume, surface area, and introduction of basic functional groups play crucial roles in CO2 adsorption.

Molecular simulation of N2 and CO2 injection into a coal model containing adsorbed methane at different temperatures

Yang Bai et al.

Summary: The study found that CO2 and N-2 primarily displace methane gas by occupying adsorption sites, leading to a lower total energy in the CH4-CO2 model. With an increase in temperature, the concentration and motion velocity of CH4 in the vacuum layer increased, with a reduction in the diffusion activation energy of CH4 in different models by 20.53% under conditions of injecting CO2.

Biomass CO2 gasification with CaO looping for syngas production in a fixed-bed reactor

Ningbo Gao et al.

Summary: The study found that a 2:1 ratio of N-2 to CO2 at 700 degrees Celsius resulted in a 25% reduction in CO2. The catalytic properties of CaO increased the concentration of H-2 in the produced syngas by up to 10%. However, a temperature of 800 degrees Celsius was too high for the carbonation reaction of CaO.

Modified nickel-based catalysts for improved steam reforming of biomass tar: A critical review

Ningbo Gao et al.

Summary: The gasification of biomass produces syngas for electricity generation and fuels production, but tar generated as a by-product causes issues. Catalytic steam reforming with nickel-based catalysts can convert tar into more syngas efficiently. Research has focused on modifying nickel-based catalysts to improve performance in steam tar reforming.
