Electronic and thermodynamic properties of native point defects in V2O5: a first-principles study

Lappawat Ngamwongwan et al.

Summary: The study systematically investigated the possible native defects in V2O5, with oxygen vacancy identified as the dominant defect and oxygen interstitial becoming the major defect species under extremely oxygen-rich conditions. The oxygen vacancy plays a crucial role in determining the electronic conductivity of V2O5, inducing the formation of compensating electron polarons that diminish the polaron mobility significantly.
