Robust Abnormal Human-Posture Recognition Using OpenPose and Multiview Cross-Information

Mingyang Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, a robust multiperspective abnormal human-posture recognition approach is proposed based on multiview cross-information and confidence measurement. Human skeletal data extracted by OpenPose are used as input for the YOLOv5s system to detect abnormal postures such as falls and bumps. Simulation results based on the NTU-RGB+D public dataset and the Pytorch framework demonstrate high accuracy of our proposed method.

Assessment of a Multi-Sensor FBG-Based Wearable System in Sitting Postures Recognition and Respiratory Rate Evaluation of Office Workers

Martina Zaltieri et al.

Summary: Due to incorrect sitting posture, upper body musculoskeletal disorders (UBMDs) are widespread among sedentary workers. Monitoring sitting behaviors and respiratory rate (RR) can help minimize UBMDs' occurrence and assess the workers' state of health. A flexible wearable system based on fiber Bragg grating (FBG) technology was proposed to recognize sitting postures and estimate RR, showing good performances in posture recognition and agreement with benchmark in RR estimation. The wearable system could provide support for understanding posture attitudes and gathering RR information to depict users' state of health.

Improvement in Power Transmission Efficiency of Wireless Power Transfer System Using Superconducting Intermediate Coil

N. Oshimoto et al.

Summary: We have shown that the power transmission efficiency (PTE) of a wireless power transfer (WPT) system for long-distance power transmission can be improved by using a high-quality-factor intermediate (IM) coil with a high temperature superconductor (HTS) wire. The HTS IM coil, positioned between the Cu transmitting (Tx) and receiving (Rx) coils, is made of a double-sided HTS coated conductor (CC) wire. Compared to a system with a Cu IM coil, the WPT system with the HTS IM coil achieved a significantly higher PTE of 49.7% compared to 17.5% when the distance between the Tx and Rx coils was 160 cm.

Investigation of HTS Coil Structure Robustness Against Misalignment Between Coils in a Wireless Power Transmission System for Railway Vehicles

Ryota Inoue et al.

Summary: This paper investigates a wireless power transmission (WPT) system using high-temperature superconducting (HTS) coils. The non-circular HTS coil structure with high misalignment tolerance is found to have improved transmission characteristics. The power transmission efficiency and receiving power can be optimized by adjusting the spacing and length of the non-circular coils.

An Efficient 3D Human Pose Retrieval and Reconstruction from 2D Image-Based Landmarks

Hashim Yasin et al.

Summary: This research proposes an efficient architecture for retrieving and reconstructing 3D human pose from 2D landmarks extracted from various types of images. By normalizing 3D poses and utilizing virtual cameras, the system efficiently transforms 3D pose space to 2D pose space and resolves the 2D-3D cross-domain retrieval task. The proposed system shows competitive and convincing results when compared to other state-of-the-art methods.
