Implementing Hand Gesture Recognition Using EMG on the Zynq Circuit

The proposed system aims to be embedded in robotic prostheses to improve the daily lives of upper-limb amputees. The design utilizes the Vivado HLS tool to identify hand movements using electromyography signals and consists of two necessary intellectual properties (IPs): feature extraction and classification with the k-nearest neighbor algorithm. The optimized design achieves significant speed improvements while maintaining moderate resource consumption and equivalent performance to software implementation.
