Measuring and characterizing research collaboration in SAARC countries

Summary: Scientific collaboration in the South Asian region has significantly increased over the past two decades. This article aims to measure and analyze research collaboration among the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries from 2001 to 2019. The results show that SAARC countries collaborate more with countries outside the region, with within region collaboration accounting for less than 1% of total research output. Collaboration patterns also vary across different subject areas.
