Genetic diversity and structure of a core collection of Huangqi (Astragalus ssp.) developed using genomic simple sequence repeat markers

Fanshu Gong et al.

Summary: In this study, a core collection of Astragalus germplasm resources was established using 10 SSR markers. Among different methods, the CoreFinder-based M strategy was found to be the most suitable approach. The genetic diversity and population structure of the core collection were similar to the initial collection. The construction of a core collection is beneficial for the understanding and utilization of Astragalus, and serves as a valuable reference for constructing core collections of other plants and fungi.

Construction of a core germplasm bank of upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) based on phenotype, genotype and favorable alleles

Peng Han et al.

Summary: This study constructed a core germplasm bank for cotton breeding, which consisted of 85 accessions representing 16.90% of the original germplasm resources. The core bank showed slightly decreased phenotype ranges and increased coefficients of variation compared to the original bank. It also exhibited high levels of genetic diversity, with an average polymorphism information content of 0.166 and heterozygosity of 0.232, accounting for a significant portion of the values in the original bank.

Genetic Structure and Core Collection of Olive Germplasm from Albania Revealed by Microsatellite Markers

Aida Dervishi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the genetic diversity and structure of Albanian olive germplasm using 26 microsatellite markers. The findings revealed that Albanian olive germplasm is a unique gene pool and provides an interesting genetic basis for breeding programs. A core collection of 57 genotypes representing all allelic richness found in Albanian germplasm was developed for the first time.

Construction of the Core Collection of Catalpa fargesii f. duclouxii (Huangxinzimu) Based on Molecular Markers and Phenotypic Traits

Huifen Xue et al.

Summary: The study constructed a core collection of Catalpa fargesii f. duclouxii (Huangxinzimu) based on phenotypic traits and molecular markers, effectively capturing the genetic variation range and providing a basis for conservation and utilization. By combining phenotypic traits and molecular markers, the core collection represented the original germplasm, ensuring comprehensive representation of trait variation.
