Aerodynamics Effect of Holes in UAV Wings Modified for VTOL Capability

Laith S. Sawaqed et al.

Summary: This research explores the possibility of modifying the X8 Skywalker from a fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle into a convertiplane. Computational fluid dynamics and wind tunnel experiments were conducted to analyze the performance of different wing configurations. The results indicate that the proposed modifications can generate enough lift despite reducing the wing area, with the filleted hole configuration demonstrating less drag and turbulence effects at low angles of attack.

The concentration and size distribution of iron-rich colloids in pore waters are related to soil organic matter content and pore water calcium concentration

Claudia Moens et al.

Summary: This study identified soil organic carbon content and calcium in soil solution as the dominant factors predicting both the concentration and size of pore water Fe colloids, with the smallest and, potentially, most mobile Fe colloids occurring in organic carbon-rich soils.

A review of cadmium sorption mechanisms on soil mineral surfaces revealed from synchrotron-based X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy: Implications for soil remediation

Xinxin Mo et al.

Summary: Cd sorption in soil is a key chemical process affecting its fate and mobility, with XAFS studies providing molecular-level information to characterize surface reactions. Understanding these processes can aid in developing strategies for environmental remediation of Cd-contaminated soils.

Investigating colloid-associated transport of cadmium and lead in a clayey soil under preferential flow conditions

Wenjie Zhang et al.

Summary: Colloids have high adsorption capacity and mobility, potentially facilitating heavy metal migration. Experimental results showed that soil colloids adsorbed more cadmium and lead compared to clay, leading to enhanced downward migration of heavy metals.
