Potential economic and environmental advantages of liquid petroleum gas as a marine fuel through analysis of registered ships in South Korea

Sil-Jung Yeo et al.

Summary: Due to the environmental damage caused by ship pollutants, regulations are being strengthened to reduce air pollution and new technologies are being developed for the use of eco-friendly fuels. Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is an attractive fuel option that can bridge the transition to zero-carbon ships. This study quantitatively analyzed the fuel consumption costs and air pollutant reductions by using LPG fuel in South Korean registered ships, finding significant reductions in both areas. Promoting the use of LPG, particularly for fishing vessels, is necessary through government policies and price subsidies.

A Global Assessment: Can Renewable Energy Replace Fossil Fuels by 2050?

Jerry L. Holechek et al.

Summary: Our study evaluated the effectiveness of using eight pathways in combination for a complete transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy by 2050. The key findings include the need to increase renewable energy production and improve energy efficiency, as well as the importance of energy conservation policies and carbon taxes. The study also highlights the varying levels of per capita energy consumption based on regional, national development, and climate conditions, and emphasizes the necessity of major lifestyle changes in developed countries and global cooperation to achieve a full energy transition.

The environmental assessment of tertiary treatment technologies for wastewater reuse by considering LCA uncertainty

Zahra Sheikholeslami et al.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the parameter and input data uncertainty in life cycle assessment (LCA) of tertiary wastewater treatment technologies (TWWTTs). The uncertainty analysis is carried out using a Monte-Carlo based method. The study highlights the importance of considering uncertainty in LCA researches to accurately evaluate the environmental impacts of different treatment methods.
