Therefore, FDCA/SA-Hf has great potential in the field of heterogeneous acid-mediated catalysis, especially for biodiesel production.

Preparation of SrZrAl multiple oxide catalyst for produce biodiesel from acidified palm oil

Summary: The SrZrAl multiple oxide catalysts are prepared using the co-precipitation method with Sr, Zr and Al molar ratio of 6:6:1.5. The catalyst is thoroughly characterized by XRD, CO2/NH3-TPD, XPS and SEM-EDS. The optimized transesterification parameters result in a FAME yield of 94.4% with the addition of 5 wt% oleic acid at a methanol to oil molar ratio of 16:1, catalyst amount of 3.8 wt%, and temperature of 171 degrees C for 2.6 hours. The catalyst shows excellent reusability with a FAME yield of 80.3% at the fifth reuse cycle and even achieves a FAME yield of 83.4% with a high oleic acid addition of 15 wt%.

Biodiesel production in a magnetically fluidized bed reactor using whole-cell biocatalysts immobilized within ferroferric oxide-polyvinyl alcohol composite beads

Summary: In this study, magnetic whole-cell biocatalysts (MWCBs) were constructed and employed in a magnetically fluidized bed reactor (MFBR) for continuous transesterification of waste frying oil to biodiesel. MWCBs exhibited satisfactory stability and reusability in the MFBR, and the fuel properties of the obtained biodiesel met international standards.
