A New Approach to Estimate the Distribution of Solar Radiation Using Linke Turbidity Factor and Tilt Angle

Foued Chabane et al.

Summary: The study focuses on solar radiation and its relationship with the number of days in a year, creating a mathematical model to calculate total solar radiation by considering atmospheric compounds, tilt angles, and other factors. Satisfactory results were obtained by predicting solar radiation changes with Link's atmospheric factor and tilt angle.

Performance Assessment of Global Horizontal Irradiance Models in All-Sky Conditions

Raihan Kamil et al.

Summary: Solar irradiance models play a key role in compensating for the lack of measurement data at ground stations, with machine learning emerging as a popular method due to its accuracy. This study compared three representative models and found that the long short-term memory (LSTM) model outperformed others in accuracy.

Comparison of physical and machine learning models for estimating solar irradiance and photovoltaic power

Raden A. A. Ramadhan et al.

Summary: This study compares the accuracies of physical and machine learning models in solar power modeling, with machine learning models generally outperforming physical models when input parameters are appropriately selected. Machine learning models significantly reduce the mean bias difference (MBD) compared to physical models, especially for global horizontal irradiance and photovoltaic power estimations. Among machine learning algorithms, long short-term memory and gated recurrent unit are recommended for solar power estimation. The physical model, however, is more efficient in reducing root mean square difference (RMSD) because it considers constant parameters as inputs.

Application of Semi-Empirical Models Based on Satellite Images for Estimating Solar Irradiance in Korea

Pranda M. P. Garniwa et al.

Summary: This study identified the most suitable semi-empirical global horizontal irradiance (GHI) model for Korea through comparative analysis. Introduction of a hybrid model and application of long short-term memory (LSTM) model improved prediction accuracy. The hybrid model exhibited smaller error compared to the Hammer model, while the LSTM model showed the potential for further reducing the root-mean-square error (RMSE).

Summary: The study found that the concentration of aerosols in Seoul metropolitan area varies by season, with organic aerosols being dominant and the Ox concentration in summer being proportional to temperature. Carboxylic acid production was identified as an important process for organic aerosol generation in spring, fall, and winter.
