Synthesis of superhydrophilic Gradient-Like Copolymers: Kinetics of the RAFT copolymerization of methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine with PEO methacrylate

Marijus Jurkunas et al.

Summary: Brush copolymers containing PEO side chains and zwitterionic units of MPC were synthesized by RAFT copolymerization. The composition of the copolymers was studied using SEC and 1H NMR spectroscopy. The results showed the significant impact of the RAFT mechanism on the distribution of copolymer compositions. The copolymers exhibited gradient microstructure and superhydrophilicity.

Step-by-step from amorphous phosphate to nano-structured calcium hydroxyapatite: monitoring by solid-state 1H and 31P NMR and spin dynamics

Vytautas Klimavicius et al.

Summary: This study investigates the solid-state NMR spectra and CP MAS kinetics of different samples, revealing the hydration numbers and phase composition index. By applying various spin dynamics models and fitting the experimental data, the differences in spin diffusion and P-H distance in AMP and nano-CaHA are discovered. The results demonstrate that CP MAS kinetics is a valuable technique for obtaining information on proton localization and transfer in cases where traditional structure determination methods fail.

Solid-State NMR and Impedance Spectroscopy Study of Spin Dynamics in Proton-Conducting Polymers: An Application of Anisotropic Relaxing Model

Vytautas Klimavicius et al.

Summary: The study investigated the role of adsorbed water in spin diffusion and proton conductivity in PME-TAC under moderate MAS. The results showed that drying had little influence on spin-diffusion rates but significantly reduced rotating frame spin-lattice relaxation times. Impedance spectroscopy revealed activation energies for dielectric relaxation and proton conductivity, indicating a vehicle-type conductivity mechanism. Spin-diffusion processes were found to be one order faster than dielectric relaxation.
