Exploring Glycosylated Soy Isoflavones Affinities toward G-tetrads as Studied by Survival Yield Method

Olga Stezycka et al.

Summary: The interaction between soy-based food supplements for menopausal symptoms and nucleic acids has been studied to understand its potential impact on cancer therapy. By using ESI-CID-MS and survival yields method, the strength of the interaction between isoflavone glucosides and G-tetrads was analyzed. The results showed that the interaction between glycitin and [4G+Na](+) ions was the strongest, indicating its potential role in cancer prevention.

Stability and context of intercalated motifs (i-motifs) for biological applications

Kelly L. Irving et al.

Summary: DNA is capable of forming alternative secondary structures, including the i-motif, which was previously believed to be unstable in cellular environments. Recent studies have shown the existence of i-motifs in the human genome and their role in gene regulation. This review discusses the effects of epigenetic modifications on i-motif structure, factors influencing i-motif formation in cells, and highlights the recent progress in targeting i-motifs for biotechnology and therapeutic purposes.

The i-Motif as a Molecular Target: More Than a Complementary DNA Secondary Structure

Susie L. Brown et al.

Summary: The i-motif is a dynamic secondary DNA structure rich in cytosine, with potential as a molecular switch for gene expression control. It may play a role in facilitating or hindering expansion of DNA elements in genomic areas with repetitive nucleotide sequences. Recent discoveries, including the identification of a specific i-motif antibody, are advancing the field of i-motif research.
