Effects of some level density models and γ-ray strength functions on production cross-section calculations of 16,18O and 24,26Mg radioisotopes

Y. Kavun et al.

Summary: The study focused on the application of oxygen and magnesium isotopes in nuclear reactor materials and their susceptibility to high energy gamma radiation. By conducting model calculations and experimental comparisons on (gamma, p) reactions, the research explored the impact of different reaction cross sections on the properties of nuclear materials. Additionally, the study investigated the influence of different level density models on gamma strength and examined the consistency of the obtained data with existing EXFOR data.

Radiation shielding properties of concrete containing magnetite

Kadir Gunoglu et al.

Summary: In this study, linear attenuation coefficients of concretes containing different rates of basalt-magnetite aggregates were measured for gamma energies emitted from radioactive sources. The results showed a linear relationship between the linear attenuation coefficients and the basalt-magnetite ratio. The experimental and theoretical results were found to be compatible, indicating the importance of basalt-magnetite as an aggregate in developing concrete with radiation shielding properties.

A Comparison Between the Theoretical Cross Section Based on the Partial Level Density Formulae Calculated by the Exciton Model with the Experimental Data for 19779Au nucleus

Athraa Mohammed Abdullah et al.

Summary: The theoretical cross section for pre-equilibrium nuclear reaction of Au-197(79) (n,p)Hg-198(78) at 22.4 MeV energy was studied in this paper. It was found that the theoretical cross section based on Ericson's formula did not agree with experimental data when n = 5, but showed some agreement at n = 7 in the high energy range. It was also observed that the theoretical cross section using one-component William's formula and spin-corrected PLD formula did not match with the experimental data. However, a better agreement was achieved when using a two-component Ericson's and William's PLD formula with exciton number n = 5.
