An In-Depth Examination of the Natural Radiation and Radioactive Dangers Associated with Regularly Used Medicinal Herbs

Heba A. Saudi et al.

Summary: The specific activities of U-238, Th-232, and K-40 in medicinal herbs used in Egypt were measured. The natural radioactivity levels were found to be within the recommended limit, and no artificial radionuclides were detected. These findings provide a foundation for establishing safety guidelines for the use of these therapeutic plants in Egypt.

The Safety Assessment of Toxic Metals in Commonly Used Herbs, Spices, Tea, and Coffee in Poland

Grazyna Kowalska

Summary: The study aimed to determine the level of heavy metal contamination in various plant materials, with lead being the most accumulated element and mercury having the lowest concentration. Higher levels of contamination were found in herbs and spices compared to tea and coffee samples. Only a small percentage of herbal samples exceeded the heavy metal limits set by the World Health Organization.
