The influence of zinc compounds on thermal stability and flame retardancy of wood flour polyvinyl chloride composites

Yiqun Fang et al.

Summary: The study investigated the use of three zinc salts in WF-PVC composites, finding that zinc borate and zinc stannate had some negative effects on thermal stability, but promoted char formation. Zinc exhibited stronger charring ability compared to tin. Zinc stannate and zinc borate were effective flame retardants, delaying ignition time and reducing heat and smoke release.

Studies on mechanical behaviour and tensile fractography of boron carbide particles reinforced Al8081 alloy advanced metal composites

Rashmi P. Shetty et al.

Summary: In this study, Al8081 alloy and micro B4C composites were prepared using the vortex process, and SEM micrographs confirmed the uniform distribution of particles in the matrix. The addition of B4C particles enhanced the hardness and strength of the alloy while slightly decreasing ductility. Tensile fractured surfaces exhibited different fracture modes.

Study on the structure and properties of Ag/Cu nanocomposite film deposited on the surface of polyester substrates

Lingling Meng et al.

Summary: The study investigated the influence of different substrates on the structure and properties of deposited functional nanocomposite film. It was found that nanocomposite films deposited on non-woven fabrics exhibited the highest anti-ultraviolet and anti-electromagnetic shielding properties, while those deposited on knitted fabrics showed the lowest performance.

Faruk Ozel et al.

Summary: Effective shielding composites were fabricated by adding BaZrO3 and Ba2P2O7 to unsaturated polyester resin, which showed good consistency in radiation protection characteristics. The composites with 20% BaZrO3 and 20% Ba2P2O7 demonstrated the most effective radiation shielding performance. These innovative composites are predicted to benefit medical physics and nuclear science applications.

Effect of patch dimension and fiber orientation on non-linear buckling of hybrid composites

Serkan Erdem et al.

Summary: The study focused on repairing circular hole layered hybrid composite plates using the wet patch method, and investigating the buckling behavior experimentally and numerically. Experimental results showed that no interface debonding damage occurred in ideal samples, indicating successful repairs according to practical applications. Numerical analysis revealed that fiber orientation was a more critical factor in influencing critical buckling and damage load than ply sequence.
