Evaluation of the annual occupational effective doses in a SPECT/CT department

Ali Aamry et al.

Summary: Occupational radiation exposure of nuclear medicine personnel may exceed the annual dose limit, highlighting the importance of accurate estimation. A six-year evaluation of physicians, technologists, and nurses in a nuclear medicine department in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia revealed higher radiation doses for technologists and nurses compared to physicians.

Estimate of effective dose for adult patients from nuclear medicine examinations in Sudan

Mohammed Ali et al.

Summary: This study estimated effective doses for adult patients from nuclear medicine examinations in Sudan, involving 685 patients from five hospitals. The results showed varying effective doses for thyroid, renal, and bone scans, with patients receiving unjustified exposure due to high administered activity, highlighting the need for national guidelines to improve practice and patient safety.

The Efficacy of Machine-Learning-Supported Smart System for Heart Disease Prediction

Nurul Absar et al.

Summary: Machine learning algorithms are effective and cost-efficient in detecting heart disease. This study used four machine learning models to predict heart disease and achieved high accuracy rates. The development of a computer-aided smart system for disease prediction is of great significance in diagnosing heart diseases.

Short-term retention of 99mTc activity in bone scintigraphy

Wadah M. Ali et al.

Summary: In this study, the radioactivity in the bladder and kidneys 3 hours post-administration of the radiopharmaceutical Tc-99m-MDP was estimated and compared using the MIRDose method. The results showed that the experimental radionuclide activity in the kidneys was approximately 50% higher than the simulation while bladder radionuclide activity was only 2% of the simulation result. Additionally, it was found that 0.9% of the administered radioactivity remained in the bladder and kidneys 3 hours post-administration, indicating low radiation dose to these organs after Tc-99m-MDP bone scans.

Current Sudan protective practice in diagnostic nuclear medicine and patient dose

A. N. Edam et al.

Summary: In Sudan, nuclear medicine departments predominantly use Tc-99m for diagnostic purposes, with administered activities meeting international standards. However, some staff members lack radiation protection training and there are issues with the personal monitoring service across departments.

Estimation of patient effective doses in PET/CT-18F-Sodium Fluoride examinations

Meshari Alnaaimi et al.

Summary: The study investigated radiation dose and risks associated with PET/CT-18F-Sodium fluoride examinations in patients, finding that patient effective doses per procedure ranged from 4-10 mSv with a radiation risk of 1 x 10(-5). Further dose reduction requires proper justification and radiation dose optimization.

Radiation exposure during therapeutic cardiac interventional procedures

Eltayeb Osman et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to assess radiation exposure in patients during PCI, PM, and CA procedures, with results showing doses below deterministic effects levels and low effective dose per procedure. Patients' radiation doses were found to be lowest compared to previous studies.

ASSESSMENT OF PATIENT'S RADIATION EXPOSURES RESULTED FROM PET/CT 18F-FCH AND 68GA-PSMA PROCEDURES

H. Salah et al.

Summary: This study evaluated patient exposures during PET/CT techniques using different radiopharmaceuticals, with F-18-fluorocholine (FCH) resulting in twice the effective dose compared to Ga-68-prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA). It is recommended to optimize CT acquisition parameters to reduce radiation exposure.
