Big-C Creativity in Artists and Scientists is Associated With More Random Global but Less Random Local fMRI Functional Connectivity

Ariana Anderson et al.

Summary: Brain mechanisms underlying creativity are still unknown. This study found that exceptionally creative individuals show differences in brain network functional architecture compared to a smart comparison group, depending on the task being performed.

Psychological Resilience, Mental Health, and Inhibitory Control Among Youth and Young Adults Under Stress

Anat Afek et al.

Summary: The study examined the relationship between inhibitory control (IC), psychological resilience, psychological distress, and anxiety among participants in a stressful situation. Results showed that psychological resilience is correlated with non-emotional IC, while psychological distress and anxiety are correlated with emotional IC. The findings suggest separate mechanisms in IC involved in resilience and mental health during real-life stressful situations.

Functional Connectome Prediction of Anxiety Related to the COVID-19 Pandemic

Li He et al.

Summary: The study shows that the prepandemic functional connectome can predict pandemic-induced anxiety and was validated in external samples. However, it demonstrated poor performance in predicting daily anxiety. The connectome-based neuromarkers of pandemic-related anxiety were able to distinguish between individuals with generalized anxiety disorder and healthy controls.

Dynamic functional connectome predicts individual working memory performance across diagnostic categories

Jiajia Zhu et al.

Summary: This study aimed to create a transdiagnostic predictive working memory model using whole-brain functional connectivity, finding that dynamic connectivity better predicted working memory capacity and accuracy than static connectivity. Neural correlates indicated specific networks negatively and positively associated with working memory performance, supporting the translation of cognitive connectome fingerprinting into real-world application.

Depression and Creativity During COVID-19: Psychological Resilience as a Mediator and Deliberate Rumination as a Moderator

Yanhua Xu et al.

Summary: The results suggest that depression is positively related to creativity, with psychological resilience mediating this relationship. Deliberate rumination moderates the relationship between depression and psychological resilience, strengthening the negative correlation between them. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the mechanisms linking depression and creativity.
