Pfeature: A Tool for Computing Wide Range of Protein Features and Building Prediction Models

Akshara Pande et al.

Summary: In the past 30 years, numerous protein features have been discovered for protein annotation. To integrate these features, we developed a method called Pfeature, which can compute over 200,000 features for predicting protein function, residue-level annotation, and chemically modified peptides. Pfeature includes six major modules: composition, binary profiles, evolutionary information, structural features, patterns, and model building.

Unconventional Protein Secretion Dependent on Two Extracellular Vesicles: Exosomes and Ectosomes

Jacopo Meldolesi

Summary: In addition to conventional protein secretion, there are unconventional secretion mechanisms mediated by extracellular vesicles (exosomes and ectosomes). These vesicles are formed within cells and released into the extracellular fluid, creating continuous networks for exchanging molecules and information. The proteins secreted via these unconventional mechanisms play important roles in cellular physiology and diseases.
