Determination of dissociation constants of protein ligands by thermal shift assay

Jaina A. Bhayani et al.

Summary: The thermal shift assay is a powerful tool for detecting molecular interactions between proteins and ligands by tracking protein unfolding using temperature and an extrinsic fluorescent dye. A new analysis method based on equilibrium systems and the van't Hoff equation is proposed for determining Kd, showing promising results in testing with different proteins and enzymes. This method has the potential to offer broad applicability across protein classes and detect both active and allosteric site binding compounds.

Nucleotide-sugar metabolism in plants: the legacy of Luis F. Leloir

Carlos M. Figueroa et al.

Summary: The work of Luis F. Leloir and his team highlighted the importance of activated forms of simple sugars in sugar interconversion, elucidated the biosynthetic pathways for sucrose, starch, and trehalose, and identified trehalose 6-phosphate as a key molecule regulating plant metabolism and development. Nucleotide-sugars also serve as sugar donors for glycosyltransferases, modifying the biological activity of various molecules in plants. Overall, Leloir's research has greatly contributed to our understanding of plant science.

MEGA11 Molecular Evolutionary Genetics Analysis Version 11

Koichiro Tamura et al.

Summary: MEGA software, a mature tool for computational molecular evolution, has been enhanced with new additions for building timetrees of species, pathogens, and gene families using rapid relaxed-clock methods. These additions include methods for estimating divergence times, confidence intervals, and new options for tagging sequences with spatiotemporal sampling information. The enhancements aim to improve user experience, result quality, and the pace of biological discovery.
