Lithium Nitropyrazolates as Potential Red Pyrotechnic Colorants

Alicia M. W. Dufter-Munster et al.

Summary: Strontium-based red pyrotechnic colorants have lost their reputation due to the harmful effects on adolescents. In search of replacements, researchers have utilized the energetic properties, safety, and combustion behavior of nitropyrazoles to design corresponding lithiated materials. Extensive characterization and assessment of these materials were conducted to evaluate their potential as alternatives.

Microwave Stimulation of Energetic Al-Based Nanoparticle Composites for Ignition Modulation

Zaira Alibay et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that nanoscale aluminum/manganese oxide can be rapidly heated and controlled for ignition under microwave radiation. Detailed analysis of the materials' properties and mechanisms revealed that the electric field is the dominant mechanism in microwave ignition, and the addition of an oxidizer acts as both a microwave susceptor and an ignition driver.

Analysis of air pollution in the atmosphere due to firecrackers in the Diwali period over an urban Indian region

Vineet Pratap et al.

Summary: Short-term investigations revealed significantly elevated concentrations of atmospheric pollutants in Varanasi during the Diwali festival, attributed to the detrimental accumulation caused by meteorological conditions. PM10 and PM2.5 concentrations exceeded safe limits, reaching 5-6 times higher than NAAQS standards.

Microwave-assisted modulation of light emission intensity in alkali-pyrotechnic plumes

Stuart J. Barkley et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the modulation of light emission intensity of pyrotechnic flames using 2.46 GHz microwave energy, achieving increased atomic photo emission from alkali species. The findings suggest that microwave illumination of alkali-containing pyrotechnic flames may be a useful strategy to achieve dynamic control of light emission intensity, especially in low-temperature pyrotechnic plumes.
