This report presents a simple and effective method for creating multifunctional colored cotton fabrics with hydrophobic, UV-resistant, and antibacterial properties using Metal-organic frameworks (MOF)/composite colored nanospheres and poly-methylhydrosiloxane (PMHS) via a spray-on process. The obtained colored cotton fabric exhibits outstanding performance, boasting a hydrophobic angle of 142 degrees, a UPF value exceeding 400, and an antibacterial rate of over 94 %. Furthermore, it also has remarkable durability against washing and rubbing, ensuring its longevity and resistance to wear and tear.
The construction of multifunctional colored cotton fabrics still faces significant challenges that dramatically limit the application of dyed fabrics in multiple fields. This report presented a simple and effective method for creating multifunctional colored cotton fabrics with hydrophobic, UV-resistant, and antibacterial properties. This was achieved by applying Metal-organic frameworks (MOF)/composite colored nanospheres and poly-methylhydrosiloxane (PMHS) via a spray-on process. Firstly, ZIF-8/disperse dye nanospheres (ZIF-8@DPAN) with uniform diameter and dispersion stability were synthesized, which could effectively prevent the leakage of dispersed dyes. The ZIF-8@DPAN had excellent color properties, enabling direct spray and bonding to cotton fabrics by electrostatic gravitational force. The colored cotton fabric that was obtained exhibited outstanding performance, boasting a hydrophobic angle of 142 degrees, a UPF value exceeding 400, and an antibacterial rate of over 94 %. Furthermore, the colored cotton fabric boasts remarkable durability against washing and rubbing, ensuring its longevity and resistance to wear and tear. Therefore, the synergistic effect of functionalized colored nano-particles ZIF-8@DPAN and PMHS offers a facile and feasible method for fabricating of multifunctional dyed textiles.
