E-Cigarette Toxicology

Terry Gordon et al.

Summary: This review discusses the experimental and clinical evidence of the toxicity and deleterious health effects of e-cigarettes. The adverse health effects related to e-cigarette aerosols are influenced by factors such as e-liquid components, physical device factors, chemical changes, and user health conditions. Despite regulations governing e-cigarette flavors, manufacturing, distribution, and availability, the evolving e-cigarette landscape hinders progress in toxicological studies and the understanding of the long-term health consequences of e-cigarettes.

Differential Associations between Weight Status (Obesity, Overweight, and Underweight) and Substance Use in Young Adulthood

H. Isabella Lanza et al.

Summary: This study examined the relationship between different weight statuses and tobacco/nicotine, cannabis, and alcohol use in young adults. The results showed that obesity was associated with lower odds of nicotine vaping, overweight was associated with higher odds of combustible cannabis and binge drinking, and underweight was associated with lower odds of cannabis vaping and combustible cannabis. These findings suggest that a more specific and comprehensive approach is needed when evaluating the relationship between weight status and substance use.
