Geochronology and tectonic setting of the giant Guobaoshan Rb deposit, Central Tianshan, NW China

Bo-Yang Chen et al.

Summary: The research indicates that the Guobaoshan pluton in the Central Tianshan Massif may be the world's largest Rb deposit, with a significant lithological zonation within the pluton. Through dating and trace-element analysis, it is found that these minerals likely crystallized during the Early to Middle Triassic, suggesting geological processes related to magmatic-hydrothermal transition stage.

Neoproterozoic I-type granites in the Central Tianshan Block (NW China): geochronology, geochemistry, and tectonic implications

Yujia Song et al.

Summary: The Central Tianshan Block is a microcontinental block within the Central Asian Orogenic Belt that overlies Precambrian basement rocks. The newly-identified granitic gneisses in the Bingdaban area show weakly peraluminous characteristics and may reflect subduction-related magmatism. This study suggests that the Central Tianshan Block may have been part of an exterior orogen along the margin of the Rodinian supercontinent during the Early Neoproterozoic, transitioning from subduction to syn-collision compression at 975-911 Ma.

Neoproterozoic tectonic shift from collisional orogenesis to intraplate extension in the Yili Block, southern Central Asian Orogenic Belt

Qing Sun et al.

Summary: This study provides systematic investigations on the petrology, geochemistry, and geochronology of the Yili Block in the Central Asian Orogenic Belt. The results reveal the tectono-magmatic history of the region, which underwent continuous collisional orogenesis and subsequent intraplate extensional setting during the early Neoproterozoic. Comparison with adjacent micro-continents suggests a common geodynamic evolution during the Neoproterozoic.

Neoproterozoic A -type granites in northern Beishan Orogenic Belt: Early response of the Rodinia supercontinent break-up

Bu Tao et al.

Summary: The study reveals the presence of Neoproterozoic basement rocks in the Beishan Orogenic Belt, specifically in the Xiaoguliang gneissic syenogranites in the northern belt. These syenogranites exhibit characteristics of A-type granite and are likely products of continental rifting magmatism. The findings suggest that the Xiaoguliang gneissic syenogranites may be the earliest granitic record in response to the break-up of the Rodinia supercontinent in the Beishan Orogenic Belt.

Is there a Grenvillian orogen in the southwestern Tarim Craton?

Teng Zhou et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the rock characteristics and geological evolution history of the Kalakashi Group in the southwestern Tarim area, suggesting that it may be a product of Neoproterozoic sedimentation, contrary to previous beliefs of Paleoproterozoic or Mesoproterozoic origins. No evidence of Grenvillian orogeny was found, indicating that there was likely no typical Grenvillian orogenic event in the north or south of the Tarim Craton.
