Quality Analysis Prediction and Discriminating Strawberry Maturity with a Hand-held Vis-NIR Spectrometer

AbdelGawad Saad et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the potential of a hand-held Vis-NIR spectrometer to classify the maturity stage and predict quality attributes of strawberries such as L*, C*, H degrees, TSS, TA, and TPC. PCA was used to distinguish strawberry maturity stages, and PLSR models were developed using various preprocessing techniques, with SNV method showing the best classification performance.

Feasibility of In-Line Raman Spectroscopy for Quality Assessment in Food Industry: How Fast Can We Go?

Tiril Aurora Lintvedt et al.

Summary: In this article, the feasibility of using Raman spectroscopy for in-line applications in the food industry is evaluated by measuring the concentration of fatty acids and residual bone in various samples. The results show that Raman spectroscopy has the potential to be used effectively in the food industry, although strategies to improve signal-to-noise ratio are needed for widespread in-line use.

Non-destructive prediction of total soluble solids in strawberry using near infrared spectroscopy

Ana Catarina Agulheiro-Santos et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the predictive capacity of NIRS technology for analyzing the main organoleptic parameters of strawberries. While the predictive models for acidity, color, and texture were not satisfactory, NIRS showed high predictive capacity for total soluble solids. The results suggest that NIRS technology is a suitable and efficient tool for determining the quality attributes of strawberries.

Quantification of soluble solids and individual sugars in apples by Raman spectroscopy: A feasibility study

Olga Monago-Maran et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the feasibility of using Raman spectroscopy for quantification of soluble solids and individual sugars in apples, achieving high estimation accuracy with multivariate calibration models. Results show that identifiable Raman bands related to target sugars can be highlighted in regression coefficients for all calibration models, indicating the potential for accurate estimation of sugar content in apples using Raman spectroscopy.
