Durable, Lightweight, Washable and Comfortable Cooling Textiles from Nanodiamond/Polydopamine/Wool Nanocomposites

Aisha Rehman et al.

Summary: The synthesis of nanodiamond/polydopamine/wool (ND-PDA-wool) nanocomposites through a dip-coating approach demonstrates excellent cooling performance with a temperature difference of 2.4-3.9 degrees C between coated and uncoated fabrics in a short time span. These composite fabrics offer enhanced thermal stability, improved mechanical properties, and increased water absorbency while maintaining air permeability. They provide a strategy for developing durable, lightweight, washable, and comfortable cooling textiles with excellent thermal conductivity.

Thermal protective performance of firefighting protective clothing incorporated with phase change material in fire environments

Yunyi Wang et al.

Summary: Phase change materials (PCMs) can greatly improve the thermal protective performance of fabric systems, especially under low-level thermal radiation. The phase change temperature and content of the coated fabric are the main factors affecting the thermal protective performance. Coated fabric with a phase change temperature of 35 degrees Celsius and a content of 45% showed the best thermal protective performance under both conditions.
