Light-Emitting Polymer Blended with Elastomers for Stretchable Polymer Light-Emitting Diodes

Kun-Hoo Jeon et al.

Summary: The study addresses the limited research on stretchable electroluminescent (EL) layers for LED devices and presents the concept of blending elastomers into conjugated polymers (CPs) to fabricate stretchable emission layers (EMLs) for stretchable polymer LEDs (PLEDs). The blended film exhibited good mechanical, electrical, and morphological properties, and the stretchable PLEDs maintained 50% of the maximum luminance upon 60% stretching.

Intrinsically stretchable organic light-emitting diodes

Jin-Hoon Kim et al.

Summary: An intrinsically stretchable organic light-emitting diode, made of highly stretchable constituent materials, is able to emit light under strains as large as 80%. It has a low turn-on voltage of 8 V and a maximum luminance of 4400 cd m(-2) from both the anode and cathode sides. The device can withstand repeated stretching cycles up to 200 times and shows improved light-emitting efficiency with small stretches up to 50%.

Stable and color tunable MEH-PPV/PMMA polymer blends for light-emitting applications

Sangeetha Ashok Kumar et al.

Summary: This study overcomes the challenges of stability and color regulation of LEPs by formulating a PB consisting of MEH-PPV and PMMA, leading to a modification of emission color and improved stability for application in Organic Light-Emitting Devices.

Intrinsically stretchable polymer semiconductors: molecular design, processing and device applications

Hsin-Chiao Tien et al.

Summary: Stretchable electronics have been widely studied due to their capability to withstand large mechanical deformations without compromising electronic properties. To develop intrinsically stretchable polymer semiconductors, two main approaches have been explored: the engineering of the chemical structures of conjugated polymers and physically blending them in an elastomeric matrix.
