Tensile Creep Failure of Isotactic Polypropylene under the Strain Criterion

Peiru Liu et al.

Summary: The tensile creep properties of isotactic polypropylene were investigated under different loads and temperatures. The analysis of the true strain-time creep curves revealed a constant increment of strain during the secondary creep, independent of stretching temperature and stress level. The end of the secondary creep and the creep failure time were reached when the deformation of the crystalline skeleton reached its limit. The relationship between creep failure time and temperature followed an Arrhenius behavior, which could be used for predicting creep failure time at lower temperatures.

Fabrication of well-miscible and highly enhanced polyethylene/ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene blends by facile construction of interfacial intermolecular entanglement

Buyong Wu et al.

Summary: In this work, a blend of polyethylene and ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene was fabricated through a melt blending process, with the incorporation of UHMWPE with low molecular weight to enhance interfacial intermolecular entanglement. The blend exhibited improved molecular entanglement density and viscoelasticity, leading to enhanced mechanical properties with increased tensile strength and impact strength. Furthermore, the blend was utilized to manufacture pipes with significantly improved tensile strength and internal pressure resistance, showing promising application potentials.

Regulation of alkoxysilane on stereoregular polymerization of Butene-1 catalyzed by TiCl4/MgCl2 Ziegler-Natta catalysts

Weiping Zheng et al.

Summary: The influence of alkoxysilanes with different sizes and electron-donating alkyl substituents on the stereoregular polymerization of butene-1 catalyzed by TiCl4/MgCl2 Z-N catalysts was investigated. Different components of polybutene-1 (PB) were obtained, including high isotactic PB (HiPB), medium isotactic PB (MiPB), and atactic PB (aPB). The addition of dimethyldimethoxysilane had little influence, while diphenyldimethoxysilane led to higher HiPB component but reduced catalytic activity. Models of active centers absorbing different external electron donors were proposed to explain the catalytic behaviors and formation of PB components.
