Silane modified MXene/polybenzazole nanocomposite aerogels with exceptional surface hydrophobicity, flame retardance and thermal insulation

Zhi-Hao Wu et al.

Summary: In this study, silane modified MXene and polybenzazole (F-MP) nanocomposite aerogels were prepared using sol-gel, freeze-dry, and thermal treatment methods. The nanocomposite aerogel showed low density, good surface hydrophobicity, flame retardancy, and thermal insulation performance. The optimized FMP aerogel exhibited low density, good surface hydrophobicity, and mechanical robustness. Additionally, it displayed reliable flame resistance and structural stability, and superior thermal insulation compared to traditional polymer foam materials. This work presents an innovative strategy for developing hydrophobic, flame retardant, and thermal insulating aerogel materials with promising applications.

Effect of Ultrasonication Parameters on the Structural, Morphological, and Electrical Properties of Polypyrrole Nanoparticles and Optimization by Response Surface Methodology

S. K. Safdar Hossain et al.

Summary: In this study, PPy nanoparticles with high conductivity were synthesized using a chemical oxidative polymerization-assisted ultra-sonication method. The influence of sonication parameters on the structure, morphology, and electrical properties of PPy was examined. Various analyses were performed to characterize the PPy, and the obtained PPy showed promising conductivity for applications in supercapacitors, sensors, and other smart electronic devices.

The use of poly(styrene-co-chloromethyl styrene) in the modification of triglyceride oils

Tugba Hayri-Senel et al.

Summary: In this study, Poly(styrene-co-chloromethyl styrene) [Poly(St-co-CMS)] was synthesized and used as a modifier for triglyceride oils. The resulting modified triglyceride product showed potential as an oil-based binder. The structures of the intermediates and final products were confirmed using spectroscopy techniques, and the thermal properties of the samples were also determined. Among the tested samples, Poly(St-OH)-SUO-40 exhibited the best film properties.

Hydrophobic behaviour of reduced graphene oxide thin film fabricated via electrostatic spray deposition

Ramiz Zulkharnay et al.

Summary: Graphene-based materials, such as graphene oxide (GO) and chemically reduced graphene oxide (rGO) thin films, were fabricated using electrostatic spray deposition and then compared in terms of water contact angle measurements. The results show that the rGO films exhibited higher hydrophobicity compared to the GO films, indicating the removal of oxygen-containing functional groups during the reduction process enhanced their water-repellent properties.
