N-piperidinyl substituted trioxotriangulene as an efficient catalyst for oxygen reduction reaction in fuel cell application-a DFT study

Thangaraj Thiruppathiraja et al.

Summary: In this study, a N-piperidinyl-substituted trioxotriangulene (TOT) surface was constructed as a catalyst for both 2e(-) and 4e(-) pathways of the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Density functional theory (DFT) was used to investigate the ORR at two active sites, the O site (oxygen) and N site (nitrogen) on the N-piperidinyl-substituted TOT surface. Reactants and intermediates adsorbate chemisorb, while the product physisorbs. The results showed that the O site exhibits strong catalysis for both 2e(-) and 4e(-) pathways, and the associative mechanism in the 4e(-) pathway has low overpotential at the O-active site. These findings suggest that the N-pipeTOT surface is a potential catalyst for fuel cell applications.

Catalytic activity of OH functionalized N-doped graphene in oxygen reduction reaction for fuel cell applications: a DFT study

Thangaraj Thiruppathiraja et al.

Summary: The catalytic behavior of metal-free hydroxyl group (OH) functionalized single nitrogen (N-Gra(OH)(16)) and triple nitrogen (N-3-Gra(OH)(16)) doped graphene surface in the 4e(-) reduction pathway under oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) process has been studied. The thermodynamic parameters indicate that the reaction is highly exothermic and feasible with N-Gra(OH)(16) and N-3-Gra(OH)(16) as catalysts. N-3-Gra(OH)(16) exhibits better catalytic properties and is the most suitable catalyst for ORR activity.

Magnetic Silica-Coated Picolylamine Copper Complex [Fe3O4@SiO2@GP/Picolylamine-Cu(II)]-Catalyzed Biginelli Annulation Reaction

Sobhan Rezayati et al.

Summary: An efficient and heterogeneous magnetic nanocatalyst Fe3O4@SiO2@GP/Picolylamine-Cu(II) was synthesized and successfully applied in Biginelli condensation for the preparation of biologically active compounds with high conversions and reusability. The catalyst system exhibited several significant advantages, including convenient and clean reaction conditions, gram-scale synthesis, usage of nontoxic solvent, improved yield, short reaction times, and high durability. Additionally, the nanocatalyst could be recycled by an external magnet for multiple runs with only a slight decrease in product yields.
