Deposition patterns of feruloylarabinoxylan during cell wall formation in moso bamboo

Noriaki Munekata et al.

Summary: This study investigates the deposition patterns and localization of feruloylarabinoxylan, a type of hemicellulose, during the formation of cell walls in developing moso bamboo culms. The results show that feruloylarabinoxylan deposition is initiated during the formation of the secondary cell wall, particularly in the S-2 layer. This deposition pattern may affect the crosslinking between cell wall components and plant growth.

Intelligent analysis technology of bamboo structure. Part II: The variability of radial distribution of fiber volume fraction

Haocheng Xu et al.

Summary: This study utilized the K-means clustering algorithm and a layered model based on the WEB coordinate system to analyze the fiber volume fraction of bamboo rings, showing that the thickness and radial distribution of fiber volume can be described by the ExpDec1 function. This provides important theoretical support for the functional improvement of bamboo and the development of new materials.

Evaluation of image partitioning strategies for preserving spatial information of cross-sectional micrographs in automated wood recognition of Fagaceae

Sung-Wook Hwang et al.

Summary: This paper discusses image partitioning strategies that preserve spatial information of wood cross-sectional images, achieving better recognition performance than traditional methods. Radial partitioning is particularly effective for radial-porous species and can provide auxiliary correlation coefficients for multi-feature datasets. The contribution of image partitioning strategies is limited to species recognition and is not significant at the genus level.
