Naloxone and nalmefene absorption delivered by hollow microneedles compared to intramuscular injection

Summary: In this experiment, beagle dogs were injected with naloxone and nalmefene using a hollow microneedle device. Naloxone injection produced a higher peak concentration compared to nalmefene, while both injections had lower exposure when administered through the microneedle device. The peak concentration achieved from the naloxone injection was significantly higher than that from the nalmefene injection, despite naloxone being administered at a higher dose.

Xylazine spreads across the US: A growing component of the increasingly synthetic and polysubstance overdose crisis

Summary: Xylazine, a veterinary drug used for sedation and muscle relaxation, is increasingly being used as an adulterant in illicit opioids. It was found that Xylazine exposure continues to increase, and it is often detected in combination with opioids, stimulants, phyto-cannabinoids, and benzodiazepines.

Opioid Overdose Deaths with Buprenorphine Detected in Postmortem Toxicology: a Retrospective Analysis
