Prioritizing the glucose-lowering medicines for type 2 diabetes by an extended fuzzy decision-making approach with target-based attributes

Maryam Eghbali-Zarch et al.

Summary: Different therapeutic classes have been authorized for the treatment of hyperglycemia in type 2 diabetic patients. This paper proposes a multi-criteria decision-making model to prioritize and rank the glucose-lowering medicines for type 2 diabetes using clinical guidelines. The model combines objective and subjective approaches to determine the ranking of medications.

Irrational prescription of surfactant replacement therapy in neonatal respiratory distress

Nader Jahanmehr et al.

Summary: This study investigated the rate of irrational prescription of surfactant for neonates with respiratory distress in Iran. The medical data of 846 neonates who underwent surfactant therapy in 2018 were analyzed, and it was found that 14.30% of neonates had irrational drug selection, 27.42% had irrational dose, and 1.06% had irrational timing of prescription. The overall index of drug prescription was found to be irrational for 31.47% of neonates. The study suggests the use of educational interventions and computer alert approaches to reduce irrational prescriptions in neonatal healthcare.
